Williams FamilyThis is a featured page

The 1901 Census contains this entry at first look is seems to suggest that Charles Williams who in previous census had a wife Mary A. Williams RG11-826-151-41 Mitcham, Surrey and Mary Ann Williams RG12-432-105-44 Battersea, London.

1901 Census,
RG13-451-75-34 Battersea, London.
Name, Age, Birthplace, Relationship, Occupation
Charles Williams, 70, Andover, Hampshire, England, Head, Hawker
Elizabeth Williams, 43, Norwood, Wife
Duceini or Quceini Williams, 15, Willesden, Daughter
Patience Williams, 5, Wandsworth, Daughter.

I was left with the feeling that Elizabeth was not the wife of Charles and was in fact his daughter! And that Duceini or Quceini on the census is Queenie Wiliams. The one problem I had with this was that I knew that Elizabeth Williams had married Perrin Cooper on the 27th October 1890 at St Luke's Church in the Parish of West Norwood. I have now found a marriage for Queenie Williams 27 a Spinster no father named to George Hearn 28 a Bachelor and the son of Solomon Hearn (deceased) they both gave their address as Donovans Yard, Cabul Road.

So I then decided to search Cabul Road in the 1911 census and found around 20 Caravans in Donovans Yard, one of the Caravans was occupied by Elizabeth Cooper, 60 and her daughter Patience Cooper, 15, and it is these 2 names recorded on the census transcription!
Elizabeth Cooper said she is married 22 years and has 8 children 7 are still alive one has died, on the image and crossed out are the following names:
Perron Cooper, 60, Lunatic Hanwell
Louisa Williams, 26, Pedlar flowers
Samuel Williams, 35, Pedlar, flowers
Polly Williams, 38, Pedlar, flowers
Leonard Williams, 31, Pedlar, flowers
Caroline Williams, 29, Pedlar, flowers
Queen Williams, 27, Pedlar flowers
Georgina Williams, 5 months, died Wandsworth.
All the Williams with the exception of Georgina are shown as married. I think this gives us all the children that Elizabeth had and the one thing I do not know is if Perrin Cooper is the father of some or all of the children! As Patience seems to be the only one born after Elizabeth’s marriage to Perrin Cooper, so far I have not yet found any baptisms for any of the children – this needs more research.

Additional information found:
In the 1911 Census at the London County Lunatic Asylum, Hanwell one of the Inmate’s is
P. Cooper, Married, Age 62, Hawker Born Molesey, Surrey.
Also found is a Death Registration for Perron Cooper, Registration Year, 1913 Age, 63 District, Uxbridge.
From the Parish Records:
Henry Williams married Annie Jenner in 1892.
Caroline Ada Williams married Frederick Penfold also 1892.
Mary Ann Williams married Robert Penfold in 1894.
All three named Charles Williams as their father.
