Stanley family Portsmouth Hampshire

My dad was from a Romany family and stayed in fields off a lane in Petersfield, Hampshire during the war, just wondering if any other families did too?
His surname is Stanley,his father was called Dangerfield Stanley also known as John or Dan.
It was near a pub and some prisoner of war camps, any help or info would be amazing! Many thanks x

Great to have been given the opportunity to find just a little bit of information on the Stanleys of Portsmouth. My Grandmother,paternal side was Bessie Stanley born c 1895 living in vans at south side of the old canal in 1901.Look forward to hearing from you as we must be related,and compare a few notes. My family are the Stanleys as shown above - the head was James, wife Emily, then children Sammuel, Clara, John, James, Thomas and then my grandfather Elias. James Stanley the head of family was born in droxford and Emily in dorset farnham. In 1911 Census a James, Jane,children Mary and Henry were also sharing a caravan - I believe this was James & Emilys son, his wife Jane and their two children (grandchildren). I know from memory as a child we visited a gypsy van site catching up with Uncle Ginger (due to his red hair) - I have been told that he did spy work for his part in the war. James(know as Jack) and Thomas I have been told went to war. My grandfather Elias Stanley lived and owned a piggery in Denmead Hants and was well respected in the area. Any connections from any other Stanleys would be nice to hear from!
